Salt Water Park Ambition Compared With Deep Creek Lake Plan

Maryland considers creating a Deep Creek Lake State park on 57 acres at the lake's north end. The land has been condemned and the Department of Forests and Parks seeks Board of Public Works approval to purchase. Tent sites, toilets, a public beach, and picnic area are planned to serve hundreds weekly, appealing to mountain, boating, swimming, and fishing enthusiasts. The piece notes Maryland lacks a public coastal park and contrasts private coastal development with this inland proposal.
