The Denton Unit of the Junior Auxiliary of the Memorial Hospital at Easton met at the president Mrs. James W. Merriken's home on August 29 to begin the 1955 56 year. Committees were named with chairs and members listed for Activities Publicity In Memoriam Attendance Nurses Liaison Hospital Liaison Evaluation Volunteer Service Program Hospitality Membership Brooms Toys Constitution and By Lays. The unit will have a Bazaar booth this year and members are urged to contribute. Mrs Merriken will represent the Auxiliary at Health Department meetings. Assisting hostesses were Mrs Fred Asilton Mrs Harry Hughes and Mrs William Dempsey.

Preston Methodist Church seeks inspection of floor plans and blueprints for a proposed Christian education unit. Architect George Savage of Philadelphia prepared the designs with minimum cost around 40000 dollars. The project fundraising runs mid October to mid November with Howard M. Harris as committee chairman and A T Blades as secretary-treasurer. About 10000 dollars has been donated and 16000 more would allow ground breaking.

Mrs William A Douglas of Cumberland president of the Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs told the Denton Community Club last Friday that club work serves as a leadership proving ground. She noted Denton is one of 117 clubs in the federation of over 10 000 women and outlined yearly programs including mental health, international understanding, reform for juvenile offenders and civil defense. Mrs Thomas W Fleming introduced her and Mrs FE Alan Armstrong announced federation board meetings in Baltimore on Sept 20 and Ocean City on Sept 30.

About 920 children attend Denton schools this term. Caroline High totals around 750 with 380 in junior and senior high stages and 370 in elementary. Denton Primary has about 170 pupils.
