James Owen Knotts named chairman for the Denton campaign of the Del-Mar-Va Council Boy Scouts of America. Campaigns begin Sept 30 for Advance and Special Gifts, Oct 25 for General Campaign with an Early-Bird Breakfast at the Brick Hotel. Denton town quota set at 900 dollars toward a 179000 dollar regional goal serving about 13000 Scouts.

Benefit Supper At Camp Mardela September 22

A benefit supper to acquaint people with Camp Mardela two miles south of Denton will be held at the camp on Thursday September 22. Chicken and ham will be served with tours of the grounds in groups. Servings start at 5 p m until 7 30 p m Tickets are available through committee representatives in six district churches. Proceeds go to the camp.

The Mardela District of the Church of the Brethren held its twelfth annual District Conference at Green Hill Church near Westover Maryland. Reports spoke on evangelism Camp Mardela and youth work. attendance surpassed 400 campers this summer. A Booster Supper at Camp Mardela was set for Sept. 22. Airman Dies In Flaming House Near Templeville

An Air Force sergeant at Dover AFB died in a burning bungalow near Templeville last Saturday morning. The airman’s identity is withheld by Maryland State Police at the Air Force request while investigators probe the fire. Frank Coursey and his wife escaped as the home was destroyed.

The G K Ebling family met for their eighth reunion on September 4 at Camp Mardela near Denton Maryland. Attendees from Delaware Maryland and Pennsylvania gathered for a basket lunch with Pennsylvania Dutch dishes followed by a business meeting and a program.
