Coast Guard Sergeant Buried After Despondency Fatality
Brad Anderson reports a Coast Guard service member died Friday night in Hyland New Jersey from a self inflicted gunshot wound. The 22 year old was due home on a 20 day furlough and had been described as despondent. Survived by parents two brothers Palmer and Arthur two sisters Mrs Harland Clevenger and Miss Altha Lare and a half sister Mrs Sadie Slavinger of Smithville. Funeral held at Bloomery Church with Coast Guard personnel in attendance. Also noted are funeral notices for Joseph Passapoe 78 who died in Baltimore and Joseph Roche Jr of Goldsboro injured in a car accident near Dover. Other items include Mr and Mrs Otis Morris announcing the engagement of their daughter Jilia to Paul Meredith with a Cape Charles Va. ceremony and a later Greensboro shower attendance.
