Debunking Talk On South County High School Tax Impact
Marvin H. Smith disputes claims that South County High School forces a $3.00 county tax rate. He notes the loan limit of $875,000 and current rate of $2.03 with a $34,229,202 assessable base. Amortization would add about 26 cents in 1960, keeping the total near 2.29, and debt service would decline after 1965. He suggests short term borrowing could smooth peaks and reduce principal payments.
