Fire delays Bay Ferry at Sandy Point terminal
A blaze at the Sandy Point terminal delayed Bay Ferry service as firemen and navy personnel contained the fire and a crowd gathered along the shore to watch. Officials speculated a cigarette dumped from a ferry may have started the fire, with the dock deemed unsafe for immediate use. Traffic backed up at Matapeake and Sandy Point terminals as vessels and land crews fought the blaze and resumed operations.
