Caroline County farmers have requested migratory workers for harvesting string beans cucumbers and tomatoes. Farmers needing help should contact camp manager Earl Lewis at the camp between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Time To Clip Pastures Due to uneven grazing and heavy rainfall many Caroline pastures need clipping. Dairymen should balance feed with hay silage and grains and ensure ample water. Pastures contain about 80 percent water and milk is largely water. excessive water without nutrients reduces milk. Portable hay racks and concentrates may help. Farw Front This Week ACP Means Continued Business On Main Street
Maryland farmers will carry out soil and water conservation on about 15,000 farms this year. At least 1.25 million dollars through the Agricultural Conservation Program will support practices costing at least twice that amount, boosting farm machinery, autos, and retail sales on Main Street while promoting a more stable agriculture. Congressman Polk notes 1949 lime and hay gains imply federal tax revenues and net government benefit from ACP.
