Easton Oxford Branch Service To End On July 25
The Pennsylvania Railroad plans to discontinue passenger trains on the Oxford branch from Clayton to Easton and Oxford by July 25. Representatives say freight service would improve after abandonment and buses would replace passenger service due to a $100 000 annual loss. Cambridge and Chestertown passenger service was already discontinued.

4th Annual Caroline County 4-H Dairy Show Recap
Fifteen Caroline County 4-H dairy club members exhibited sixteen animals eight Holsteins and eight Guernseys. Animals were classified into blue red and white groups with seven blue seven red and two white. Edwin Love of Denton won the grand champion bull trophy for his Guernsey Blake ford Founder and Edwin Meredith of Federalsburg won the fitting and showing trophy for second year running.

Miles River Regatta Set For August 5 6 Festivities At St Michaels
The 28th annual Miles River Regatta will be held off St. Michaels August 5 and 6 with large crowds expected. Regatta chairman James McC Wales notes new clubhouse facilities including a 40 by 52 foot building with a 12 foot porch and expanded bar. 11 acres of parking will accommodate spectators as the event features power and multiple sail courses plus dances Thursday through Saturday. New perpetual trophies honor runabouts and canoes, while the Chesapeake Bay Log Canoes return with four perpetual trophies including the Governors Cup and Covington Trophy. Visitors will enjoy a protected anchorage and varied racing venues across the miles of water.
