Midshipman Training Cruise Afloat With Atlantic Fleet
Service Short Charles E Foxwell and Correll D Thomas, both USN, aboard USS Des Moines, join the first of three annual Midshipman training cruises. Twenty ships of the Atlantic Fleet left Norfolk on June 6 bound for Europe with over 3,000 Midshipmen from the Naval Academy and NROTC from 23 colleges and universities. Crews will train future Naval officers in navigation gunnery seamanship and engineering.
