Health for All Tuberculosis Survives Across Age Groups
Tuberculosis is not just a disease of the young. It kills many aged 15 to 35 but also harms older adults. More than half of TB deaths occur in those over 45. The average TB death age rose from 35 in 1930 to 48 in 1948, challenging the belief that susceptibility ends after 40.
Aging and TB risk linger despite years of comfort
The piece warns that TB can strike any age and older adults may ignore symptoms as age related. It urges yearly chest X rays within annual physicals to detect TB early and protect longevity. It cites a New Holland Pennsylvania manufacturer urging farmers to secure equipment for emergencies to boost food production.
