Echoes of the Past at a Denton lodge meeting
A narrated reminiscence recounts Fidelity Lodge of the Independent Order of Good Templars, its early Friday gatherings, and a February 20 1885 public meeting where Miss Rachel Satterthwaite read a poem about bygone times and local history. The piece ties a 1834 pine camp meeting to Denton’s development, notes a sheriff legend, and mentions Rhode Island labor data.

It contrasts fat deposition dangers with attainable improvement, urging a lifelong effort to eat less and choose nutritious foods. It ends with a stray definition of a howdah on an elephant.
