Home Front Example Shows Industry Supporting Troops
The Curtiss Cardy Company of Chicago keeps 750 service members connected with home by promising continued benefits, monthly personalized letters, and news from the company. They distribute candy boxes, share product samples, and run a 7 for 7 club pairing employees to write to seven service members. This model inspires stronger commitment and aids a return to normal life after the war.

Farm Bureau Opposes Subsidies And Consumer Roll-Backs
Maryland Farm Bureau president R G C F Weagley leads delegates from 46 500 Maryland farm families in Baltimore voicing firm opposition to consumer subsidies and roll backs as a substitute for fair prices. The resolution denounces subsidies as wrong in principle, arguing they erode thrift and initiative while shifting costs to future generations. Farmers seek price flexibility to cover rising production costs, not across the board gains, and urge Congress to block the policy. Consumers now pay the lowest share of income for food in history, they say.
