Power Company Plans Expansion on Eastern Shore
The Eastern Shore Public Service Co plans a $1,725,000 expansion of generating facilities and the transmission and distribution system. President Lewis Payne said changes include new customer extensions, more transmission lines, rebuilding and higher voltage operation. Pirates Sign Bobby Knight from Dover High
Bobby Knight a 19 year old Dover High School graduate signed this week with the Pittsburgh Pirates and will be assigned to a farm team likely Hornell New York. Former Eastern Shore League manager Jake Flowers signed Knight. Knight began pitching at Dover High and after a stint with a semi pro team he entered the Army in July. He was discharged in October and now works in a defense plant. Knight is well known in Caroline and has appeared in the Denton and Greensboro areas.

Denton Soldier Promoted to Captain on Thanksgiving Day

Plane Display Spurs War Bond Sales
Fifty four government bonds totaling $8,037.50 were sold while a German Messerschmitt plane was shown in Denton on Monday afternoon and evening. George W. Beck announced about 2,750 people viewed the captured plane. J. Roland Chaffinch and Beck led the Fourth War Loan Campaign with National Guard guards, Boy Scouts, and fire company volunteers manning the display as Market Street near the courthouse was roped off and illuminated.
