Antibiotics Boost Poultry Growth Fast, Says Maryland Scientist
Dr. G F Combs of the University of Maryland Poultry Department cites antibiotics such as aureomycin penicillin streptomycin tetramycin and bacitracin as growth promoters in chicks and broilers. He notes 2 4 to 15 grams per ton can raise growth 10 to 20 percent and that costs are under a cent per broiler. Antibiotics are not used in laying or pullet growing rations.
