National Guard Company HK forms for active recruiting drive
The Nat. L. Guard Company HK met Monday night at 8 for its first drill of a busy year. New members Thomas G. Galante and Benedict Buckle from Ridgeley joined. Galante is a World War II veteran who served as a forward observer with the 79th Division of the 3rd Army and was discharged Feb 6, 1946. Lt. Roger Teat outlined a six year program to train the company for emergencies. A new noncom club was formed at Co. H to boost noncom participation. Various local residents and events noted include holiday gatherings, a Ridgely Chamber of Commerce best decorated home contest winners, a missionary visit, a golden wedding anniversary, and numerous visits and dinners around Ridgely and nearby towns.
