The Dorchester County Junior Red Cross Chapter hosted a grand Christmas Party at Eastern Shore State Hospital. The Recreation Trail venue glowed with decorations as Miss Hilda Harwood and helpers guided a program of carols, a recitation, and a Santa Claus appearance by Mr. James R. Thomas delivering gifts to all. Refreshments followed, leaving staff and patients fondly recalling the evening.

Woman Held In Fatal Stabbing Near Ridgely
James Ollie Thomas, 40, of Ridgely, died from chest stab wounds after a Christmas Day incident at a local eating place. Mrs. Mary Armstrong, spouse of Thomas Armstrong, is held in Denton jail without bail on murder charges. Sheriff William E. Andrew and state police investigator Corp. Harold Weir said the suspect confessed. Thomas died at about 6 p.m. Dr. E. Paul Knotts pronounced him dead and Dr. Dawson O. George committed Armstrong to jail. She made no attempt to escape. Both Thomas and Armstrong were married.
