Forests of the Northwest thin out forcing centers to labor more for less wood says J A Hall director of the Pacific Northwest forest and range experiment station. Now about 8500 employed, mostly outside saw mills, with less than a third of wood volume passing through Grays Harbor. Close use of fir hemlock and spruce now reduces waste.
