Mrs Gregson To Speak To Club In Denton Friday

Mrs Harry H Nuttle drama chair of the Women's Club of Denton invites Mrs Margaret Gregson of Easton Players Inc to speak at the Denton meeting on Friday February 18. She will discuss Easton Players structure committees and enlistment methods for community groups using Arsenic and Old Lace as an illustration master cast and backstage work. Easton High School performances February 24 and 25 will be noted. Mrs Gregson will explain Play Reading and Casting committees and offer two complimentary tickets as door prizes.

Cancer Specialist Here March 4th

Dr. Ross Cameron of Baltimore, chief of cancer control for Maryland, speaks on The Medical Aspects of Cancer at Denton Community Club on March 4 at 3 pm and at Preston High School the same day at 8 pm. A film on early detection will be shown.

License Plate Applications Being Mailed 1949

Maryland motorists receive 1949 license plate applications for class A passenger cars and motorcycles by mail. Large plates renew by clip with a red tab bearing the number 50 and a small serial. Sign and mail early, verify plate numbers, and update addresses if needed. Issuance begins February 15, present plates expire March 31 at midnight.

Operating Voltage On Power Lines Doubled

Mr. E. S. Mortimer of The Eastern Shore Public Service Company and Delaware Power & Light Company announces completion of a project doubling operating voltage from Harbeson to Berlin. The $100,000 effort, over two years, added Ocean City and Bethany Beach substations, new oil circuit breakers, and automatic transfer features to ensure two way service amid growing demand on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Round the Clock Spring Fashion Show by Caro Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary of Caro Line Post No. 29, in cooperation with Benjamin's of Salisbury, plans a March 23 fashion show at 8:00 p.m. in the Denton Armory. Titled Round the Clock, the event features day, evening, and home wear with local girls and matrons as models, includes Junior Fashions commentary, and promises music and refreshments.

The Ridgely Athletic Association and P T A sponsor a two night minstrel at Ridgely Theatre on February 21 and 22 directed by Irving Smith. Farm Institute Opens Monday in Caroline County

The second annual Caroline County Farm Institute opens Monday at 10 a.m. in the Denton High School auditorium and runs through February 22 with sessions on dairy problems fertilizer use crop feeds and hogs. Organizers include Caroline Farm Bureau Ridgely Grange and the Extension Service. A banquet on Wednesday features J. C. Lind of the National Farm Bureau. Tickets on sale until 5:00 Saturday.

Death Of Child Ends Struggle To Keep Home

The Williamson family endures a string of misfortunes as twin daughters die, a wife dies in childbirth, and the remaining children are placed in a home or with relatives. Bessie Williamson dies in Baltimore after a heart condition since birth. Funeral services were held at the local funeral home with burial at Greensboro cemetery.
