The article notes higher tax collections in 1948 than 1947 after tax reductions, arguing the 80th Congress did not cut government revenue. It mentions hearings on tax increase proposals unlikely before April or May, and February hearings on expanding Social Security. It also covers fisheries labor co operation, tariff issues affecting imports and exports, and the need to bolster the seafood industry supporting 150,000 fishermen and half a million shore workers.
