Maryland Potato Hearing Set for January 18 1950
The U S Department of Agriculture will hold a public hearing January 18 1950 at 9 30 A M at the Little Theatre State Teachers College Salisbury Maryland to consider a proposed marketing agreement and order regulating Irish potatoes grown in Delaware and Maryland areas including Worcester Kent Somerset Talbot Caroline Queen Annes and Cecil counties. The Maryland Delaware Potato Committee requests the hearing to pursue a possible order administered by a local seven grower committee. If approved by Agriculture Secretary the order would go to a farmer referendum. Also notes PMA conference in Memphis discussing land set aside and seed production with a push for grass and legume seeds in 1950. Program also encourages storage building construction with CCC backed agreements and financing via Farm Credit and cooperatives.
