County Nursing Committee Meets in Caroline County
The Caroline County Nursing Committee met December 12 with members Mrs Frank Zeigler Mrs Harry Nuttle Mrs Clarence Kern Mrs Wilbert Meriken Mrs Nelson Covey and Public Health Nurses Miss Smith Miss Jones Mrs Baker and Mrs Todd. They discussed Tag Day receipts totaling 602.54 the Denton churches Union Thanksgiving offering 27.12 for the Building Fund and tuberculosis seal sales about 200 ahead of 1948. A Red Cross Santa Claus button plan was proposed for school children buying ten seats. During the Mobile X ray Unit visit 1934 chest X rays were taken. The Tuberculosis Committee will be increased to three members. Zeigler represented the county at a Baltimore Lay Section meeting and was elected Vice President while Miss Smith joined the Board of Directors. Smith urged funding for the Polio Campaign and commendation arrived from the State Health Office for the County Loan Closet. The Girl Scouts were praised for weekly health department assistance.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company will host its annual Christmas Party on December 29 at the Fire House. A covered dish supper precedes the party with an exchange of gifts and entertainment. Mrs. Charles Rich leads hospitality. Health Center Plans Made At Denton Meeting
Caroline County Health Association met in Denton on January 14 to outline fundraising for a public health center. A building committee chaired by Harry H. Rieck, eight district sub chairs, nursing chief Miss Mattie Smith, and social worker Mrs. Catherine Lott were named. The town will donate a lot at Fifth and Franklin, with another lot acquired for parking. The federal government will cover 44 percent of costs. A county-wide meeting at Caroline High School January 4 will launch the campaign, with state health officials invited.

Hostess To Perry Point Hospital Christmas Open House
Mrs Samuel Jopp and others hosted Perry Point Hospital veterans for a Sunday open house on December 18. About 150 patients enjoyed coffee and homemade decorated cakes donated by Caroline Unit No 29 and friends. The event marked the unit’s third 1949 hosting and first time Legionnaires joined. A bake and gift sale was planned for December 23 at 10 AM near Malott's Music Shop.
