Maryland's Farm Front This Week Recount On Tobacco Referendum
No substantial change forecast in the Maryland tobacco referendum recount. Acting PMA chairman James A. Cottman says the Southern Maryland recount, led by Miller, Allen, and Posey, shows minimal shifts after the first day. If, as count progresses, the final vote supports the three year program, farmers must stay within acreage allotments or face penalties calculated at 40% of the 1952 price times excess percentage.
