Stettinius to lead in new foreign policy era

Christian Science Monitor notes Ed ward Stettinius Jr. faces a vast role as Secretary of State with Senate approval assumed. He brings leadership, administrative harmony, and public relations skill from General Motors, United States Steel, and Lend-Lease, but lacks deep foreign capitals ties. The two main tasks are US participation in world organization and shaping policy amid social revolutions, with isolationist resistance and a need for liberal, democratic leadership in the State Department.

In Memoriam for Martha A. Noble

In loving memory of our dear mother Martha A. Noble who departed life November 29 1986. Sad and sudden was the call for one so dear loved by all. A bitter grief a shock severe it was to part with one so dear. We often sit and think of you and speak of how you died to think you couldn't say goodbye before you closed your eyes. For all of us you did your best. There is not a day dear mother that we do not think of you Oh God grant you eternal rest. By her children.
