War Bond Caravan to Exhibit Army Equipment
K Thomas Everneam, Caroline County War Bond Campaign chairman, announces a Saturday exhibit of Army equipment in Denton from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and in Federalsburg from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on December 9. The caravan includes 14 Army personnel with two WACs, six vehicles, and a mobile radio station for a live broadcast demonstration. Admission is free and the event aims to educate schoolchildren and citizens on the Eastern Shore.

Top Maryland Court Set-Up Given
Governor Herbert R. O Conor announced the appointment of Chief Judge Ogle Marbury of the present Court of Appeals as chief judge of the newly created appellate tribunal to take effect January 1 under the Bond plan. The court will eventually have five members including two from Baltimore City. Judge Stephen R. Collins will represent the Eastern Shore, with other judges from Baltimore and other circuits. The new arrangement bars replacements until term end or retirement at age 70, and reorganizes the Court of Appeals as four appellate circuits. Marbury, 61, was named chief judge last April after Sloan retired.

Firemen Respond Twice In Week At Nuttle Lumber Yard
Five of undetermined origin started a fire in a small tool and storage shed at Nuttle Lumber & Coal Co near Parrott's Woods Tuesday night. Firemen prevented spread with only minor damage. A chimney fire on North 5th Street Saturday was also extinguished. chimney condition deemed very dangerous.

Itinerant burglar pleads to Farmington area lootings
Emory Lee Andrews, a migratory worker, was arrested after a morning burglary at Morris E. Wright’s restaurant and beer parlor in Federalsburg. Loot included $57.25, cigars, beer, and damaged machines. Police recovered part of the loot and linked Andrews to other break ins, with him jailed in Denton awaiting trial.

Sergeant Joseph Vodvarka of Hartly Delaware returned home for rest after being wounded by shrapnel in Southern France. He was struck while helping carry a wounded man to a first aid station under German artillery fire. He served since 1942 with North Africa Italy and Southern France campaigns. He is from the Anton Vodvarka family and has a brother in the Army Air Forces in France.
