Toll roads to unfold across the nation in 1954
The article outlines nine new toll road projects totaling about 1100 miles and costing 1.5 billion dollars to add to the highway system in 1954. It notes six more toll roads costing nearly a billion dollars projected within a year and envisions cross country travel via toll superhighways within five years. Current toll roads cover 840 miles with 1081 miles under construction. 3056 more miles are proposed nationwide. The piece cites Engineering News-Record saying toll highways are not the full solution, and free highway expansion is needed.

If two thirds of voting sheep and lamb owners approve, a one cent per pound deduction from 1955 clip incentive payments funds advertising and sales programs via the American Sheep Producers Council. Deductions would continue through 1956 1957 and 1958 clips, with similar five cent per hundredweight charges on lambs moved to slaughter.
