The Ridgely Chamber of Commerce hosts the fifth annual Ridgely Horse Show at Ridgely Community Park Sunday August 7 starting 10 a m. Thirty two classes cover ponies hunters jumpers hackney and saddle horses with nine pony divisions. Henry A Dentry Baltimore will judge and Charles Schuck Easton ringmaster with Mrs Shirley Shawen Crisfield as steward. Proceeds benefit the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Company Building Fund. Mrs. Brodie Ruth Murphy Dies At Home
Mrs. Brodie Ruth Murphy, wife of Harry J. Murphy and a Burrsville area farmer’s wife, died by self-inflicted shotgun wound on Tuesday morning. She was 53. Surviving include husband, mother Amanda Fountain, a son Charles William, a daughter Sarah Elizabeth Mortimer, two grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers. Funeral at Murphy residence Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. W. L. Jump. burial Concord Cemetery.

The Board of Education announces the appointment of Frank Gerhardt as principal of Caroline High and Elementary School in Denton. A former Caroline County Supervisor of Pupil Personnel, he coached Little League, served as Cub Master, and is active in mental hygiene and choral groups. He is a Philadelphia native, Temple University graduate, and served as a U S Army Air Force Second Lieutenant 1944 46.

Mrs. Wilmer Fell Davis of Federalsburg won best-in-show at the fifth annual Rehoboth Art League Flower Arrangement Show in Corkran Gallery Henlopen Acres. She earned five blue ribbons two seconds two thirds and top prize for a dance themed piece featuring driftwood shells and an accordion playing figurine.
