Constellation Receives A Royal Welcome Home
The USS Constellation, first US Navy ship of its kind, returns to Baltimore after 156 years. Towed in by ARD-16, the weathered frigate is to be permanently enshrined at Fort McHenry, greeted by a flotilla and officials including Maryland’s governor and Baltimore mayor. The President praised the preservation effort in a telegram.

Rev J W Krabill Honored On 88th Birthday
Rev J W Krabill is honored at 88 at a Denton family dinner hosted by Mrs Lewis Nafzinger. The Ohio native settled in Denton in 1909 after visiting Jamestown Exposition in 1907 and has preached for the Church of the Brethren, officiating at many weddings and funerals. He lives on the farm with his daughter Mrs Charles Todd, walks with a cane, and remains active in reading scripture and secular press. His children Havel and Verlin, and daughters Mrs Charles Todd and Mrs Nafzinger, as well as relatives across Maryland and Ohio, are noted.

Creamere Caroline Lucifer owned by J Kemp Todd Sr won the Grand Champion Female at the Black and White Show in Federalsburg, with Edwards Cinder Design Bossy taking junior champion female. Brinsfield Brothers exhibited Chicane Bellevue Ormsby as Grand Champion Bull, while Chicane Ormsby Madcap was Reserve Champion Bull. About 50 animals across 14 classes showed under judge Allie Messer.

Sarah Lane daughter of Mr and Mrs J Frank Lane Jr was named Little League Queen for 1955 at the Denton Ball Park on Friday evening. Rotary Club sponsored her with four other nominees backed by Lions Club American Legion Auxiliary and American Legion through voting jars placed in town stores. Crown bearer Linda Orme assisted in the ceremony as William Wunderlich announced results and G Daniel Crouse crowned the queen.

The Andrew Flaharty family reunion was held on Sunday August 7 at Trappe Pond with about 40 attendees enjoying a buffet luncheon ice cream and cake. Notable absentees included the oldest members Mrs Martin Willey and Mr and Mrs John Andrew while the oldest and youngest descendants were named for both Flaharty and Andrew lines. Two recent deaths were noted Mr Cameron White of Preston and Mr Jacob Zierl of rural Denton.

L B Moore of Salisbury has been named rate engineer for Eastern Shore Public Service. He joined in 1912 with original cost determination work, studied property values, and compiled records of Delmarva electric companies. He was with FPC in 1947, then returned to Salisbury. previously 13 years with Florida Georgia Power. He succeeds Edward Nieemann who retired August 1.

Woman's Face Is Cut In Auto Crash Near Hynson
A collision near Hynson, four miles from Federalsburg, sent Mrs. Virginia Cohee to Memorial Hospital in Easton with a deep facial cut after striking the windshield. William Cahall of Preston drove the other car. Gerald Lee Plutschak faces stop-sign violation charges. Eugene Plutschbak, 15, and Anna Mae McDonald were in the vehicles with injuries and no injuries, respectively.
