Bible devotionals on Matthew 5 6 7 13 21 35 and Psalm 42
A devotional reading focusing on Matthew passages 5 6 7 13 21 35 and Psalm 42. It reflects on hunger for righteousness, mercy, and the hidden meanings of parables within the Gospel and explores longing for God as in the psalm.
Hunger for righteousness guides restless hearts toward mercy
The sermon contrasts ordinary hunger with deeper longings of the human heart. It warns that desire for fame or power never satisfies, while hunger for goodness, guided by Jesus’ example, leads to true fulfillment through mercy and compassion. An anecdote about learning to swim illustrates choosing selflessness over pride.

Fire Threatens Denton Home In Early Morning Blaze
Twenty five years ago on a Saturday in Denton William C Parrott and his wife barely escaped as flames engulfed their first floor wake room around 2 30. A passerby notified the Denton fire company just as the second floor became a furnace. They saved some belongings and other farm property while the couple found shelter with a neighbor with losses around 1500. Funeral for Charles Selby Roop was held in Grasonville with burial in Denton Cemetery. The Denton Community Club elected officers and noted several social visits and engagements from locals including Thawley and Gelletlys. Willie Fletcher Baker died at Burrsville aged about 39 after a long illness and many local residents attended his funeral at Wesley Church.
