Rapist And Assaulter Sentenced To The Pen
Paul Eugene Thomas, 28, of Hell's Lane Ridge ly, was sentenced on Apr 14 to seven years in the Maryland Penitentiary for statutory rape by Chief Judge J DeWeese Carter. A second count was dismissed. jurors, including 11 white and 1 Negro, found him guilty of statutory rape but acquitted him on assault. Roosevelt Thomas, 41, of Greensboro was convicted of assault and battery and sentenced to 3 years in the Penitentiary. A bastardy case remains on the docket.

State Trooper Activity During The Past Week
The State Police report for the past week notes a one car accident 1.9 miles north of Greensboro on Cedar Lane Road at Cannon's Cross Roads. Thomas A. Bennett of Greensboro drove north and failed to negotiate a right curve, ran off and overturned. Both Bennett and passenger Charlotte Hammer of Greensboro were taken to Memorial Hospital at Easton. The driver was charged with reckless driving.
