Barn Destroyed on New Year’s Eve in Madison Township
Madison township firemen battled a blaze at the Fred Hannell farm east of New Hope school. The wooden barn tenanted by Dick McCain burned completely, with 31 sows, 100 pigs, 1000 bushels of corn and over 500 bales of hay lost. A heat lamp warming newborn pigs is blamed for the fire.
