Carnival of Nations social at Presbyterian church

A church social at the Presbyterian church in Washington street featured national lunches served by members in period costumes, followed by a musical program with Julius Blair Mildred Geiger and Bechel. Women shared memories of raising funds for a new parsonage, and the event drew a large attendance.

Funeral of George Parrish in Defiance Ohio

George Parrish died Thursday at his daughter's home, born June 11, 1877 in Ohio. He lived in Defiance eight years, previously Liberty Center, member of St. Paul's M E church and Masonic lodge at Columbus Grove. Survived by three daughters, brother, and sister. Funeral held at daughter P E Helpman’s residence, interment at Columbus Grove. Also notes local illness, county fee report, a serious injury from fall, a railroad conductor arrest, and thank-you from the March family.

Lease Termination Petition in Common Pleas Court

William Maltby and wife Anna sue William Skees and Mary Skees over a life lease on Evansport lots 8 10 and 11. Plaintiffs say taxes repairs and $350 mortgage interest were not kept up and seek cancellation of the lease. Attorney J H Hockman represents the plaintiffs.

Greene Monument Ceremony And Railway Expansion News

The granite monument to Judge Jacob J Greene at Riverside cemetery will be unveiled Sunday at 1 PM with Masonic bodies from Defiance and nearby towns attending. A parade by Defiance Knights Templar will precede the ceremony. Also noted is expansion of the Columbus and Lake Michigan railway north to Coldwater and south to Columbus, with completion planned in 11 to 13 months. An Ohio Baptist Convention excursion sale is announced for Oct 17–18 from Ohio points to Cincinnati.
