Rev. E. F. Bigler resigns as Grace church rector
Rev. E F Bigler resigns as rector of Grace Episcopal church in Defiance. The vestry accepted the resignation with regret. He will become curate of a large church in Walnut Hills Cincinnati with higher salary and better opportunities. He led church improvements including redecoration, a vested choir, and a new pipe organ. He came from Bexley Hall Kenyon College and was ordained at Grace church. He will start in Cincinnati around November first. Temporary supply by a missionary department will serve Defiance church until a new rector is chosen.

Death of Mrs Frances Demland In Family Tragedy
Mrs Frances Demland wife of Rheivart Demland died Friday at her home southeast of the city aged twenty one. The funeral was held Monday at 9 30 at the residence and 10 at the German M E church South Ridge with Rev Jauch and Rev Baer officiating. Burial followed at New Bavaria cemetery. The couple had been married about eighteen months.

Bryan Trader Charles Sperry Dies in California
Charles Sperry once a noted figure in Williams and Defiance counties died in Oakland California on Saturday October 5 after a stroke. He lived in Bryan for years with a dry goods firm, married Emma Garver daughter of John Garver later moved to Des Moines Iowa then to Oakland with health decline. He leaves a wife two sons and a daughter.

Labor Shortage Hinders North Clinton Street Sewer Work
Defiance facing a labor famine delaying the north Clinton street sewer project. Rattler Jungle Cleared in Paulding County Efforts
G J D Miller of Brown township reports with his son to clear the old canal area dubbed the rattlesnake jungle. He says 43 snakes were killed this summer with a 33 and a half inch longest specimen having 13 rattles and one button, and predicts the rattler threat will end once the area is cleared.
