Death of Mrs. Rachel Williams in Fostoria
Mrs. Rachel Williams a longtime temperance advocate in 1876 and key organizer of W T A work died at her McDougal Street home in Fostoria at age 82. She leaves one son and five daughters. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon conducted by Dr J F Harshbarger of Defiance and Rev J F Olive of Fostoria.

New Depot Promised in Defiance as Montgomery Leaves
The Perry street home of J. J. Montgomery hosted a farewell dinner Thursday night with business men and officials including T. Wight and T. E. Spurrier. Wight praised Montgomery for steady B and O work and announced funds and plans for new Depots in Defiance, a $53 000 appropriation, first a freight depot then a passenger station similar to Fostoria's. Guests presented Montgomery and his wife with gifts while remarks noted money tightness delaying construction.

Disastrous Sherwood Fire Destroys Several Buildings
A morning blaze in Sherwood destroyed the Haver House, a confectionery shop, a millinery store, a barber shop, and the Lantz meat market. Four buildings burned, with about $10,000 in losses. The Haver House valued at $3,500 was lost. insurance around $2,500. Firefighting was hampered by strong north winds and limited equipment.
