Postoffice to Install Electric Letter Machine

The postoffice receives a quarter horse power electric motor from Holtzer Cabot Electric Co Boston to drive the letter and stamping machine. Power will be drawn from streetcar trolley wires. A government inspector will supervise installation and office rearrangements are planned to create more working space.

Mains Family to Move to City After House Fire

After F J Mains’ home burned Wednesday the family lost house, bed, clothes and shelter. Neighbors provided $100 to Mrs Mains, and friends plan to help with bedding. Insurance totals include house 650, goods 1000, cellar contents 50 as the family starts anew.

Mrs. J. H. Blackmore, aged about 66, died in Aurora after a two week illness. She once lived in Defiance from 1880 to 1887. she leaves three sons and two daughters. her husband died eight years ago. Ira Gardner, well known here, died in Cleveland after a lengthy illness. Other items include Miss Reba Heatly buying a horse, a winter visit planned by Anna Rewinkel, B. B. Woodcox selling stock Oct 18, and a Turnbull Wagon Co incident where Geo Beatty sustained a broken rib from a flying iron wedge. condition not life threatening.

New Officers Elected in College Christian Endeavor

The college Christian Endeavor society elected new officers including Arthur Baker as President and Glenna Morris as Vice President. Adda Clevenger serves as Secretary and Treasurer, with G D Yinger as chairman of the prayer meeting committee and Mae Latchaw as pianist. Meetings begin at 6 30 p m in the college chapel.

Fred Sharinaka aged 69 years 9 months 20 days died at his home in Pleasant township Henry county. Funeral from M E church New Bavaria Wednesday. Nettie Smith daughter of Mr and Mrs John Smith died at 618 Francis Street at 9 30 am aged 22 years 6 months 3 days. Funeral Monday morning.
