John Paul Minsel died at 6:80 a m at his son in law Levi Degler’s home 519 Wayne street in this city Born in Heildesdorf Bavaria Germany on Sept 21 1817 he emigrated in 1836 and lived in Elizabeth New Jersey Cleveland Ohio Pleasant township Defiance county and North Richland land township before settling in this city He was the oldest member of the German M E church joining in 1842 He leaves six sons three daughters eighteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren Funeral was held at the Degler home and Independence M E church with Rev David Dobbrick and Rev Tennant assisting.

Partee Brown Families Hold First Reunion at Rural Chapel
The Partee Brow n families held their first reunion at Rural Chapel in Tiffin township on Thursday October 10 marking the 62nd anniversary of Mrs. Nancy Partee's marriage. About sixty members attended with out of state guests Randolph Wiggin s of Lafayette Indiana and Mellie Wise of Leo Indiana. Officers elected were C W Brown president and Frank Partee secretary. A group photo was taken by Hindley of Bryan and plans were made to meet again in September 1902.

Fatal grade crossing kills Hicksville banker at Smith street
Frank N. Horton president of the First National Bank and Hicksville Telephone Co. was struck by a switch engine at the B and O Smith street crossing at 6 p m Sunday. He died instantly, his body dragged about fifty feet. The engine had no headlights. Horton, 68, a long time resident and former Defiance County commissioner, left home for Disciple church shortly before the accident. Funeral arrangements will be announced.
