Tragic Drowning After Flooded Road Crossing Near Mud Creek

Cornelius Schriner, about 40, drowned when the buggy was swept from the embankment at Mud Creek crossing near the Children's Home. His wife clung to a bush as rescuers fought the swift current. Schriner’s body recovered Saturday. The widow, mother to eight children, faces a tragic loss.

Deaths of infants in Brunersburg and Angola

The five day old son of Joseph Steffel of Brunersburg died Wednesday afternoon. Funeral held Thursday at St John’s Catholic church with Rev Gloden. body in Riverside cemetery vault. The six month old child of Mr and Mrs W A Partee of Angola died Friday. Body brought to Defiance Saturday. funeral at Rural Chapel Sunday at 10 with Rev S L Roberts. burial in Evansport cemetery.
