Death of Joseph Ankney in Defiance Ohio
Joseph Ankney died in Defiance on Thursday night at 8 30 from dropsy. Born June 15 1826 he moved from Tuscarawas to Paulding and later to Defiance. A Civil War veteran of Co G 68th OVI he married four times, survived by his wife Elizabeth Winkler and four children. Funeral at Broadway Christian church with burial in the soldiers' plot at Riverside.

Canal Damaged In Destructive Explosion At Reservoir Lock
A blast at 1 20 this morning damaged the bulk heart lock at the reservoir after a dynamite charge was placed near the north gate. Four youths arrested after failed train wreck attempt
