Teen saves drowning classmate at Seneca Springs
16 year old Riverside sophomore B G Ryan Jr. helped rescue Leon Simmons after a cramp left him underwater during a hayride and picnic. Other students aided with artificial respiration for about an hour before Leon was revived and taken to Decatur General hospital. Leon's parents and teachers praised the lifesaving effort as neighbors recall previous rescues involving the Ryan family.
