Alabama Talks Auto Tax Plan And Reciprocal Tags

Hon Henry Long head of Alabama tax commission wrote to John Patterson of the Decatur Kiwanis Club explaining Alabama Tennessee tag policies. He noted reciprocal rules allow Alabama to honor other states tags but Tennessee trucks entering Alabama now require Alabama tags. The exchange aimed at restoring prior equal treatment and simplifying cross state vehicle licensing.

Morgan County docket includes four capital cases for June trials

Morgan county circuit court under Judge James E. Horton plans a four week June session starting Monday June 2 to try four capital cases. The docket lists Fred Walker Ed Yancey Norman Lovela William Skeggs Cris Gaines and J Q Breashear with charges including murder and fatal shootings.

Mrs Ella Gibson Passes After Prolonged Illness

Mrs Ella Gibson aged eighty a respected Town Creek resident died at 2 am at her son H W Gibson home after a long illness. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Mrs Lizzie LeMay of 1 Creek and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon from the residence with interment in the family burial ground.

Three Held After Slain Deputy in Carolina Town Shootout

Greenville Tennessee reported deputy sheriff Mitchell Gentry of Madison County North Carolina was killed while breaking up a quarrel at a filling station. Grady Cutshaw was seriously wounded and three men were detained at Marshall North Carolina. Pete Stanton and his brother and Fowler Shelton were arrested. Sheriff John A Noel planned to send them for a preliminary hearing.

Man Wounded in Battle with Cop in Birmingham

Everett Syphrus, 27, is in serious condition after a gun battle with Fairfield policeman Oscar Knott. Knott says Syphrus fired several times with a pistol and he returned fire with a shotgun after a confrontation following Knott flashing his light on Syphrus and companions.
