Two of a three man group were wounded during a noon daylight robbery at the Union Trust Company on Xenia avenue in Dayton Ohio. A stray bullet struck a bystander girl Eleanor Fetz ten. Police with repeating rifles chased the third bandit who escaped.
Little Mary Pauline Butler died at Benevolent Hospital after clothes caught fire while playing in her yard at 1630 Fifteenth Avenue South. Survived by parents T. M. Butler and Mrs Butler and several siblings. Body moved to Priest Funeral Home. funeral set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Canaan with interment in New Canaan cemetery.
The Morgan County League of Women Voters invites all Alabama gubernatorial candidates to a June 12 banquet in Lyons hotel assembly room attended by leaders from across the Tennessee Valley. Lt. Gov. W. C. Davis has signed, with other candidates expected to confirm. seating is limited to about 150 due to space. The event marks the start of statewide campaigns in this region and could influence Valley voting.
The unpaved section between Decatur and Athens is staked off signaling a paving imminent. State and highway officials appear resolved to proceed with the project and residents in Morgan and Limestone counties await a definite paving date with keen interest.

Mrs Olin Tubbs sister of County Tax Collector Hodges Crow died after a several day illness due to typhoid fever and influenza. She lived in Morgan County after being born in Lawrence County and was a lifelong Methodist. Survived by her husband and four young sons with funeral arrangements pending.
A prison notice lists Louis Huskey as a parole violator and escaped prisoner. Huskey, convicted of second degree murder in 1922 in Marshall County, is said to be at large with his wife’s address given as Lacey's Spring. A reward is offered for his recapture.
The Alabama Woman's Temperance Union local chapter will soon announce a reception for new members. The plan was tentatively decided at a recent meeting.
The sanitary survey at Hartselle will be resumed once Inspector C L Parham can return to duty. Significant progress was made before an abdominal ear infection interrupted work and forced his temporary removal.

In Los Angeles on May 6 Rev. R. P. Bob Shuler militant Trinity Methodist Church leader began a 20 day jail sentence for contempt after six of seven counts were found guilty. He must serve five days on four counts and pay $50 on two. he is to be released May 26.
Aubrey Payne former deputy sheriff faced a second trial after a hung jury in a prior case. Bill Turner an admitted illicit liquor distiller testified Payne bought liquor on November 2 1929 and loaded it into a car. A C Swindle and Lewis Swindle reaffirmed witnessing the sale and delivery as in the first trial.

F. L. Chenault sues Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Co in circuit court to recover $5,000 as due from the death of Henry Wilson. The policy allegedly covered Wilson from April 1, 1920 and was transferred to Chenault on July 1, 1924.

The house military committee passed the Reece bill 11 to 5 with two absentees to authorize a three member board to negotiate leases with private firms for fertilizer and power production at Muscle Shoals. It replaces the Norris restitution plan and calls for Cove Creek dam completion on the Tennessee River in Tennessee.
Senator Watson called for an immediate probe into charges that federal judgeships were offered for votes on Judge Parker’s Supreme Court confirmation. Senator Ashurst said he was misquoted and did not claim the offers were with Parker’s consent. Senator Glass pressed for clarification, while Senator Borah and Parker opponents viewed the claims with skepticism.
The Exchange Telegraph Agency reports the town of Pegu in Burma was destroyed by a quake and tidal wave. About 1,000 are feared dead with most of the population homeless. Public buildings including the municipal office banks and school were wrecked and the market burned out.

The head of a dog brought to the state laboratory by O. B. Peek of Shan ghai nine miles from Athens showed the animal suffered hydrophobia. The dog had bitten a local dog and calf before being killed after turning on Peek. The examination confirmed rabies in the animal.
