Fires Cause Heavy Losses In 2 Counties
Two fires within two hours damaged about 10000 dollars Tuesday afternoon. In Limestone county Turner Hill grammar school east of Athens on Lee Highway burned to ashes after a chimney spark. Students saved books and coats as desks were moved. the one room school had 25 pupils. The teacher and pupils were moved to Bethel school three miles east. In Falkville the old A G Patterson home in Patterson Grove burned on the second floor around 2 pm, destroying it and threatening nearby houses. The Falkville volunteer fire department fought the blaze. some furnishings were salvaged.
