Tragedy Strikes Limestone County Farm Areas
Tragedy struck Limestone County on Monday as three children died in separate rural fires. Four year old Margaret Cates and one year old Robbie Nell Cates perished when their home burned. three year old Helen Kelly later died from burns after her dress ignited at home. The Cates family home burned rapidly with Mr. Cates in the fields and Mrs. Cates in the garden. cremation was performed at Mitchell cemetery. The second fire near Lentzville claimed five year old Winifred Kelly’s life after her clothing caught fire while her parents were milking in the barn. she died after transport to Athens. Interments scheduled at Sandlin cemetery.
