Quick Work By Citizens Stops Danville Fire
Fire at the W. M. Woodruff home in Danville started when chimney sparks set the roof ablaze at 8 30. Residents formed a bucket brigade reaching a nearby well, carrying water to the roof until flames were controlled. The telephone switchboard remained undamaged and service continued. The residence lies southeast of town, over 100 yards from other buildings.

Solons Stage Fist Fight Over Retail Tax Vote
Atlanta March 16 A brawl erupted in the Georgia House when Rep. Henderson Lanham moved to table debate on a two percent retail sales tax. Rep. W H Lovett struck Lanham and punches and shoving spread as House members crowded the floor. Lovett was cut under the eye and left after order was restored. The roll call to sustain the motion passed 93 to 52 as Harris warned of possible National Guard deployment to restore order.
