He was stricken while working in a neighbor's yard and, though improving, cannot receive visitors. Marine Fliers Missing in Pacific Near Tokyo

Truck crashes Dr Pepper Bottling Plant in Athens
A heavy tractor-trailer plowed into the Dr Pepper Bottling Company on West Washington Street in Athens at about 5 30 this morning. The impact caved the front of the brick building and caused thousands of dollars in damage including a ton of sugar and syrup. Driver Clyde Haddock of Florence suffered a facial cut as his truck rolled over after brakes failed when another car turned onto Washington Street. Police and fire crews worked about two hours to remove the truck owned by Loo Mac Motor Lines of Memphis. See TRUCK on Page 2.
