Assault to Murder Charge Now Faced
Athens Alabama June 26 Mrs Fie Adair was held for the grand jury on an assault with intent to murder charge after a Limestone County Court hearing. Evidence showed she had been drinking and cut Night Policeman W T Arnett with a knife when he arrived to arrest her at her mother’s home around 2 am after a family member called. She has not posted bond.

Thomas Hearing Set In Circuit Court For Saturday
James Slim Thomas faces a probation revocation hearing in circuit court on Saturday July 3. Convicted of grand larceny in 1947 and given two years, his sentence was upheld by the Court of Appeals in 1947. He received five years probation in a 1948 hearing, and this week was arrested on grand larceny, concealing stolen property and conspiring to commit corrupt public justice.

Educational Building Set for Sunday Dedication
Sixteen Avenue Baptist church celebrates completion of a three story education building. The project began in 1945 with a building fund drive raising cash and pledges, construction faced delays but finished at a total cost of about 49 914 dollars. The church, with 525 members, counts increased attendance and a new chapel and facilities for multiple age groups. Dedication continues with a Home Coming Day program and tours for visitors.

Plant Assets Sold to Athens Trio Forms Valley Gas Inc
The Automatic Gas Company of Athens in receivership sold its plant and assets at public auction for 15700 to W Van Gilbert Jack Gilbertt R L Jack Christopher of Athens and Harry Morris and Grady Usery of Elkmont. The buyers form The Valley Gas Inc with Jack Gilbert as manager. The Limestone County Court confirmed the sale and will dissolve the old corporation with sale proceeds distributed under court order.
