Resort Hotel Burns as Fire Claims Acting Captain
Atlantic City fire destroys the Thurber 120 room hotel starting behind a ground floor restaurant. An acting fire captain died while fighting the blaze and three other firemen were injured. Guests escaped as Night Clerk Albert Nelson and owner Samuel Tochinsky sounded alarms. Nelson detected smoke at 3 PM and traced the origin, sending a guest to a nearby fire house.
