8000 Troops Headed Back Home From Vietnam
About 8000 Army troops including 2000 reservists mobilized last year will return to the continental United States and be inactivated or demobilized. The pullout totals 25000 from Army Marine and Navy units by end of August with 900 or so Navy personnel to be identified. The first units to arrive are an infantry battalion ~900 men in July followed by other elements. The decision followed a three day Pacific Command conference in Honolulu.

Nixon Signals Possible ABM Compromise
Administration officials say Nixon may accept a compromise on deploying an antiballistic missile system but maintains he wants a Senate showdown on two operational sites. Senate action on the military authorization bill may slip to late month or July, buying time for a national address if needed.
