Fence Material For Stadium Is On Ground Here
Materials for the stadium fence are on the ground and will take weeks to erect. Walter Jackson, superintendent of schools, announced a contract to Stone Construction Co. for concrete work including floors for shower rooms and public toilets under the stadium and for wall footings, totaling 13,487.30 dollars. Jackson noted about 81,000 dollars of the 100,000 dollar pledge has been paid.

Fifty inmates attempt breakout at Georgia asylum riot
Milledgeville Georgia June 14 thirty negro patients attempted to break out of the maximum security ward of the state hospital for the insane. The riot was quelled within two hours as guards and attendants were overpowered. Five patients and one employee were injured. The attackers used a razor and iron bars gathered from a room, and the doors on the main floor remained locked preventing escape. A year-old boy drowned in Guntersville Lake while his mother and stepfather watched. James Lancaster, his brother-in-law from Gadsden, tried to rescue him after the boy fell from a motor boat. The sheriff said the water was shallow then deep and both men sank during the attempt. the body was recovered in about 10 minutes but could not be revived.

Taxi crash leaves one dead near Greenbriar
Traffic collision on Highway 20 near Greenbriar involved Huntsville and Decatur taxi drivers. Holland was killed after a 12:35 PM Sunday crash. Otha Howard, driver of the cab, and Sam Atklin were injured. Decatur General and Brown's Ambulance transported victims. Patrol described high speeds and a multi-vehicle wreck with cars overturning.
