Police hunted a young black man after a grocery store intruder hacked Ida Krebs 50 to death with an axe and seriously wounded her cousin Louise Lohrum 35 in Nashville Tennessee. Krebs was found dead in a bedroom. Lohrum bleeding in a shed behind the store. Krebs’ $35.61 pocketbook was left in the bedroom.
Matters of unusual importance will be taken up at the meeting of Winona Council Junior Order United American Mechanics next Friday evening. Full attendance is anticipated as recent joint meetings have stimulated interest and revived spirit in the order.
Rogers Brothers and Green move salesrooms from Church Street to Bank Street opposite the fire station. They handle Chrysler Graham Paige and Plymouth cars.
Washington reports that 6000 war wives and mothers will sail to France this spring and summer on government expense to honor fallen husbands and sons. Groups of 300 will depart weekly from New York starting May 7 with US officials coordinating cemetery visits across Paris and other sites. Names will be drawn from a nationwide pool in Washington to determine the first travelers and the sequence of departures.

The Decatur District Meeting of the Boy Scouts of America will convene at 4 PM this afternoon in the Tennessee Valley Bank basement. The session will reorganize the district and set plans for the year.
Decatur merchants launch a two day event called Dollar Days aimed at offering exceptional retail value to about 3,000 Decatur homes and 4,000 homes beyond the city limits. The feature edition of The Daily will promote the plan Thursday afternoon with future such days planned as the program gains traction.

The House Roads Committee approved a Senate bill to authorize 1 660 000 dollars for Alabama to rebuild roads and bridges damaged by 1929 floods. The measure directs the fund toward state road and bridge projects with federal aid.
