A 56 year old mother, Mrs. Jim McHaney of near Ensley, was jailed for six months after federal court found her guilty of possessing five bottles of home brew and a pint of whisky. Her husband faced the same liquor possession charges. Four of her daughters aged six to 15 attended the trial. a 17 year old son was absent. Authorities vow to continue the drive against liquor gangs using force if needed.

Bravery earns two medals for young aviator
Lieut. William A. Matheny, 26, Langley Field, awarded the Cheney medal for self sacrifice and the Soldiers Medal for bravery in peace. He smothered flames to save Lieut.
